Dairy Cow Cooperatives Transform Lives. Participants in Africa Bridge’s dairy cow cooperatives help create an active economy for their village, provide stable housing with beds and blankets, food to feed their families, entrepreneurial skills for sustaining results, horticulture training, and empower village adults to take care of the most vulnerable children.
Avocado Cooperatives Sustain Villages. At just 50 cents per sapling, this is an investment that will last for many generations to come because avocado trees can produce fruit up to 80 years! Participants in the avocado cooperatives receive agriculture training in growing and harvesting avocados, and they earn valuable income to support their families and village.
What that means is simple: thousands of school-age children can go to school and learn. Remember: for every $50 you give, one child can go to school for a year. Consider contributing the funds to send two, five or even ten children on their way to a brighter future.
Other Ways to Help
Gifts of Stock
Donating stock may have tax advantages above a donation of cash. Normally the sale of stock would generate capital gains tax on the increased value of the stock, but a gift of appreciated stock to a charitable organization is one way to avoid the tax. The donor does not have to pay the tax on capital gains and is eligible for a tax deduction for the value of the stock on the day it is transferred to the charity. If you would like to make a gift of stock, please contact Sharon, Executive Director at (503) 699-6162 or email@example.com. She will provide you with the Account Number and DTC number to transfer the funds electronically from your brokerage account. If you have made gifts in the past and already have the account information, still notify us prior to transfer. Stocks transferred electronically do not come with any identifying information and we want to be sure that you are promptly thanked and receipted.
Please consider Africa Bridge as you plan for your estate. Assets left to qualified charities are not subject to federal estate tax, and help us as we build for the future.
